Putu Bonuz Sudiana

Born on Nusa Penida, the small island off the south east coast of Bali, on 30 December 1972. He grew up in a fishing and seaweed farming community and began by painting fishing boats. After finishing junior high school on Nusa Penida he moved to the main island to study at the High School of Fine Arts (SMSR), and in 1995 continued at the Fine Arts College of Indonesia (STSI, now the Indonesia Arts Institute, ISI) in Denpasar.

His work extends beyond painting into installation, music, performance and poetry. He paints by spontaneity rather than plan, and has said he almost never decides beforehand what a canvas will become.
