Faisal was born in Solo, Central Java in 1965. After completing high school in Solo, he pursued his education at the Institute of Art in Yogyakarta. His artistic style is influenced by renowned masters such as Klee, Dubuffet, Appel, Corneille, Ben Shan, Basquiat, Widayat, as well as primitive art and children's drawings. His works have been featured in various solo and group exhibitions in Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Amsterdam, France, and Singapore. Faisal has received awards for best sketch and best painting in Yogyakarta in 1990, as well as best painting from the Indonesian Institute of Arts in Yogyakarta and the Medaille du Conseil Generale Prix D'honneur L. Duren from France.
